Course Desciptions:

French Level 1A

No prerequisite

 

This is the first year of a two part course.  Students are introduced to the French language and culture. They will begin to learn to speak, understand, read and write in French.  Activities include dialogs, novice readings, listening selections and written communication.  Students develop their communication skills in French, learn about the cultures of the French-speaking world and make connections and comparisons to their native language. The majority of each class period will be taught in French to immerse the students in their new language.

 

 

French Level 1B

Prerequisite:  French Level 1A

 

In this course students continue the work begun in French 1A.  They will expand their knowledge of French vocabulary and structures and get more practice speaking, reading and writing in French.  The majority of each class will be taught in French to immerse the students in their new language.  Upon completion of French 1B students will receive high school credit for a PSD Level 1 high school French course. French Level 2

Prerequisite:  French Level 1B

 

This course is equivalent to a PSD high school level 2 class and students will receive high school credit upon its completion.  Students continue to expand their knowledge of French vocabulary and structures.  They engage in verbal exchanges, create and perform dialogs, and continue work on their reading and writing skills in French.  The majority of each class period will be taught in French to immerse the students in their new language.  To see the level of proficiency worked toward during French 2 and  attained by the end of French 3 click here
